Fitchburg – Fitchburg State College will hold a ceremony dedicating the new Aldo and Anna Guglielmi Mazzaferro Center at the college on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m.
“The building on Highland Avenue is being named in honor of the Mazzaferros in tribute to their enduring commitment to Fitchburg State,” said President Robert V. Antonucci. “Anna is a 1977 graduate of Fitchburg State, and is a dedicated volunteer and chairwoman of the Center for Italian Culture at the college. She and Aldo have long supported their community and the college, and we are deeply grateful for their involvement.”
The Mazzaferros, co-owners of Cardinal Comb in Leominster, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May. Anna Mazzaferro received the college’s Distinguished Alumna Award in 2004 in recognition of her involvement in numerous charitable and civic causes.
Located across from the Sanders Administration Building in a building previously owned by the Worcester Diocese, the Mazzaferro Center houses the Office of Alumni & Development, the Grant Center and the President’s Hall.
“The Mazzaferros generosity to the college has enabled us to renovate the building to a welcoming, state of the art facility for our alumni offices, lectures and meetings,” President Antonucci added. “We are thrilled to name the building in their honor.”
Following the dedication, a campus and community reception will be held in President’s Hall. Members of the community are invited to attend. Call the Office of Alumni & Development at Fitchburg State College at 978-665-4555 for more information.
