College hosting financial aid workshops

Fitchburg State College is sponsoring a series of informational sessions regarding the college financial aid process. The sessions will be held at the college’s Center for Professional Studies at 150B Main St., next to the MART Intermodal Station. Attendance is free and open to the public but advanced registration is required.

Session 1 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9. The session, entitled Financial Aid Overview, is designed to provide participants with an overview of the financial aid process. The application process, types and sources of financial aid will be discussed, along with a general timeline.

Session 2 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10. That session will be a workshop on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This session is designed to provide a detailed review of the FAFSA where participants will review each
question of the form.

Session 3 will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 14. The Financial Aid Award Workshop will provide information regarding the financial aid award and financing options. It will help participants understand the award letter and possible next steps.
